Hi friends,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend with this warm spring weather. I wanted to alert my subscribers and visitors that we have moved to a new web site.

Weekend Events for Cumming, GA for 3/11 – 3/13

The rain has moved past and hopefully the weekend will bring lots of sunshine and outdoor activities! Here are this weekend’s local events around Forsyth County, GA. If you know of any other family friendly events, please comment and share!

Friday, March 11

5:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Whitlow Elementary Festival of the Arts – Free! Performances by the Whitlow Elementary Chorus, Whitlow Drum Group, Glass Harp Music, face painting, moonwalk, art show, crafts, vendors, book fair, snow cones.

Saturday, March 12

10:00 am – Lowe’s Build and Grow – kids can build a free shoot around basketball game!

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michael’s The Knack Free Family Event – Make-it Take-it Yarn Doll – while supplies last. For ages 3 and up.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble Story Time at The Avenues Forsyth – Free! Hear the story If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and meet Cookie Mouse!

Cumming First Baptist Church will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 12 inside the church atrium, 1597 Sawnee Drive. There will be furniture, household items, toys, electronics and mores. Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday until the sale. All proceeds will benefit missions. For more information, contact Pat Ford at (404) 483-5155.

8:00 pm – “Celtic Celebration Two” Sounds of Sawnee Celtic Concert at The Cumming Playhouse – The Sounds of Sawnee Concert Band presents “Celtic Celebration Two” featuring bag pipers from the North Atlanta Pipes and Drums. $15.00 tickets.

3:15 pm – Hampton Park Library for a family viewing of The Princess & the Frog.  This is a free event.

6:00 pm – 8;00 pm – Barnes & Noble Exceptional Child Book Fair – spirit night! Support your school and enjoy activities at the book store.

Saturday 3/5

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Wal-Mart Midway – Girl Scout Cookies for sale – shameless plug for my daughter’s brownie troop. Buy your stash as we will soon run out and you can only get them once a year!

9:00 am – 12:00 pm Home Depot Kids Workshop – Kids Workshops are FREE and designed for children aged 5 -12.  Build a #20 Home Depot Race Car! “They are an excellent way to build quality family time.  The children learn do-it-yourself skills and tool safety while gaining a sense of pride and accomplishment.  Each child receives a project to construct, an orange Home Depot Kids workshop apron, an achievement pin, and a diploma.”

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble Story Time – Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with The Cat in the Hat. Children will hear a story and celebrate his birthday.

Sunday, March 6th

2:00 pm – Hampton Park Library for a family viewing of The Princess & the Frog.  This is a free event.

Weekend Events in Cumming, GA for 2/25 – 2/27

It is gearing up to be a beautiful weekend in Cumming, GA! We have a new park opening this weekend – Fowler Park as well as some fun activities going on in Forsyth County. Please share anything that you know of as well!

Saturday 2/26

There is also the start of the Hot off the Hanger Consignment Sale for tweens and teens and college kids this weekend and it starts today!

Creekside MOPS are having their consignment sale this weekend as well! Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

My church, CFUMC – Cumming First United Methodist Church, is having their super consignment sale next weekend. Be sure to mark your calendar and go through the kids’ closets and make a list of things that you need!

Fowler Park in Cumming, GA Scheduled to Open 2/25, Ribbon Cutting at 11:00 am

Forsyth County, GA has a new park! Situated along the new Greenway at Highway 9 near Castleberry Road, the 85-acre Fowler Park is opening on Friday, 2/25. UPDATE: Since this post, Fowler Park has a new web site and my blog has moved! Check out Forsyth for Families online and on Facebook!

The park is similar to Central Park and includes a skate park, designed by Wally Hollyday, the county’s first. The park will also add more space for athletics. Among them: a track; four baseball fields; six courts each for basketball and tennis; and six soccer/lacrosse fields.

Some other features include a paved walking trail that winds through the woods, the county’s largest pavilion, access to the Big Creek Greenway and a 5-acre passive area ideal for large events.

Cumming Coupon and Consignment Events on Thursday, 2/24

I decided to do a special post for today. There is a neat and free coupon event at BJ’s today from 4:00 – 7:00 pm for coupon clippers.

There is also the start of the Hot off the Hanger Consignment Sale for tweens and teens and college kids this weekend and it starts today!
